We are excited to have recently partnered with Brighter Days Brew Co in Tarpon Springs, FL. They use our Deckhands™ clamp system for umbrellas, string lights, and outdoor fans to keep their customers cool and relaxed on their awesome deck.
Throwing Shade
ShadeThings is all about throwing shade where its needed. If the situation is right, umbrellas are used to shade where the people are when the sun is not directly overhead. Its all about angles and spacing.

A complete shade system will involve the use of the Deckhands™ clamps, through-table, and free-standing umbrellas placed in complimentary patterns to provide a shade area that covers larger areas, and allows for the natural progression of the shade as the sun moves across the sky.
Design ideas
Patio Umbrellas
The Deckhands™ clamp system is designed to hold a standard 1.5 inch umbrella pole. Use them to attach patio umbrellas to your deck or other sturdy supports. Leave umbrellas mounted all season if you like.
String Lights
The Deckhands™ clamp system can be used with our Pole Adapters to mount other items such as string lights. The Pole Adapters reduce the size of the Deckhands™ clamps to 1.25, 1.0, or .75 inches to accommodate other sizes of poles, such as string light poles.
We added string light holders to the tops of umbrellas to use both at the same time.
Drapes and String Lights
The Deckhands™ clamp system can be used with our Pole Adapters to mount other items such as custom supports for drapes and string lights. The Pole Adapters reduce the size of the Deckhands™ clamps to 1.25, 1.0, or .75 inches to accommodate other sizes of poles, such as standard EMT conduit.
We used 3/4 inch EMT conduit and components from MakerPipe.com to create curtain rods and attached string light holders to create a cozy couch nook.
Decorative Accessories
The Deckhands™ clamp system can be used with our Pole Adapters to mount other items such as a wind spinner, tiki torches, and solar LED flame lights. The Pole Adapters reduce the size of the Deckhands™ clamps to 1.25, 1.0, or .75 inches to accommodate other sizes of poles.
